ARTIST: 100BLUMEN
TITLE: I love Violence
LABEL: ANT-ZEN |
|
| DESCRIPTION: four years after the first self released 7" 'against the snails', 100blumen return with a new consolidated 2 track dose on vinyl format. 'i love violence' transforms this outstanding band's treatment of (apparently) antithetic style into a unique statement of anger, corrosiveness and power.
'world of grief' is a hazardous blast of technoid industrial and kicks your ass with the repulsive force of a solid fuel rocket! vibrant synths carried by pulsing breakbeats erect the foundation for the memorable lyrics, which are adapted from the hymn of the spanish anarcho-syndical union cnt.
you might be vexed while listening to the mellow string introduction on the flip side but then you will be caught short by an abrupt heavy guitar and a fast rock drum kit. tempo variations will only offer you a little reprieve from this track's merciless speed. influenced by bands like tragedy and from ashes rise, 'i love violence' is a perfect combination of punk and electronics.
this 7" is available on black vinyl with poster cover, sticker and mp3-download-code
stay vigilant in a world of grief! |

ARTIST: ALBIREON
TITLE: Mr. Nightbird Hates Blueberries
LABEL: OLD EUROPA CAFE |

|
| DESCRIPTION: A dark comedy or a folk drama about drunk birds, mocking spiders, empty bottles and lost souls.
Starring David E. Williams, Lloyd James, Sonne Hagal, Future Whirl, Die Weisse Rose.
A strange manuscript, telling a tale about some bizarre characters, found somewhere in a forgotten cellar and hidden by countless broken bottles, was the inspiring spark for this dark comedy or folk drama-as the subtitles suggest-set to music in order to show how love can be a faint illusion and the deepest of all wounds.
For this decadent party, recorded between late 2008 to early 2010 and graced by great emotional neo folk ballads and more experimental gloomy soundscapes, Albireon invited some very selected guests to share this tasty blueberries’ cake and offer the album a different palette of vocal nuances and a multinational coven of damned artists’ parade.
American songwriter-genious David E. Williams, UK’s finest minstrel Lloyd James of Naevus, german neo folk leading act Sonne Hagal, Norwegian/american highly talented artist Future Whirl (formerly Oberon) and the new martial heroes Die Weisse Rose are the selected guests of Mr. Nightbird’s party.
These great artists offered a priceless contribution to Albireon’s music and lyrics, and perfectly painted the sad main character, in his struggling pilgrimage toward love, loss, forgiveness and rebirth, but all seen through the drunk eye of the mocking spiders.
And after all, you now may be guessing why Mr.Nightbird hates blueberries?
Listen to the album and find out why!

ARTIST: ALLERSEELEN
TITLE: Rauhe Schale
LABEL: ANHSTERN |

|
| DESCRIPTION: This cd differs in various parts from its precursors:
Allerseelen, live having been for a long time with various
members performing in many cities in North America, Europe and
Russia, has been nevertheless in the studio almost a solo-
project by its founder Gerhard Hallstatt, assisted from time to
time by various guest musicians.
This has changed now, now Allerseelen is also in the studio a
real group with electronics, bass, electric guitar and drums.
On several pieces there are also contributions by two well-known
violinists from the world of neo-folk and folk metal.
Apart from Dimo Dimov who not only drums but also plays electric
guitar on some songs and the bassist Marcel P., Allerseelen this
time also features the two violinists Meri Tadic - from the
Swiss folk metal band Eluveitie - and Annabel Lee, the violinist
of theAmerican formation Blood Axis.
Still it is not easy to describe the style of Allerseelen -
everything moves and flows in a field of force between
industrial, metal, folklore and pop.
On Rauhe Schale there are various songs with a powerful metal
atmosphere with electronic, industrial recordings - some minutes
later one may discover again a song that sounds more like dark
pop. Gerhard Hallstatt sometimes describes his music as
Electronic Folklore or Apocalyptic Rock.
Rauhe Schale sounds like its title - the music is rough, tough,
hard like already the last album Hallstatt that received
enthusiastic feedback due to its fascinating combination of
electronic beats and strings and some compositions reminding in
some way of Black Metal. The songs were inspired by various
magical mystery tours in Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece,
Italy and Slovenia. |

ARTIST: ANALOG ANGEL
TITLE: Dischord
LABEL: RAGE IN EDEN |

|
| DESCRIPTION: The new album - DISCHORD - is released by RAGE in EDEN records on 30th November and is the debut album of this three piece, electronic band from Glasgow, Scotland.
For anyone that has not heard of Analog Angel; they are not a boy band by any means. They are of an age where they can remember the 80's in full, vivid, 3-D glory and the songs on DISCHORD tell some of the story from the glorious 80's. 80's electronica? There is certainly more than a hint of 80's electronica on DISCHORD. Some of the basslines are straight out of the yearbooks 80-85!! Some of the sounds are pure analogue beauty; full of filter sweeps that could smash windows!!
Up to date technology? - that box is ticked too. There are digital synths on the album; of that there is no doubt but they have been tweeked to within an inch of their lives! DISCHORD has been put together using some sort of digital interface but ANALOG ANGEL have tried to be a bit different from all the others in this genre and they have actually played some of the parts live and not quantized the result. This results in a less clinical sound with a bit more warmth than you would normally expect from an all electronic band. An up to date sound? They have managed to revisit the 80's, picked all that is good, timewarped back to 2009 and put together DISCHORD. The songs? The songs themselves stand up to the test. You can tell immediately that the guys have some life experiences behind them. Some of the music excels and their influences shine through but it is the lyrics that give the game away. Sure, there is some good. old fashioned synth pop on the album but there is a dark, sometimes menacing undertone to some of the lyrics.
The titles of some of the songs shout out to you that there is something dark, cheeky and menacing about to unfold into your ears. There is also an edgy, vulnerable side in some of the songs.
John sings "In the role of the sinner; I'm just a beginner and if it's a contest there's only one winner!" in the song NO CONTEST. |

ARTIST: BAKER, AIDAN
TITLE: Songs of Flowers and Skin
LABEL: BETA LACTAM RING |

|
| DESCRIPTION: Ed. of 400 numbered copies. Doomgaze. Is that a thing? In ancient times "Songs Of Flowers & Skin" might have done time on 4AD, Creation, or even Sarah. Except of course, for the slender demonic tail woven into the melodies, which would have left a smoldering pile of pointy shoes in its wake. Though the tracks here are not metal, there is no lacking of heavy. The songs (yes, songs) simmer to a point just below explosion. Aidan chooses to excavate with atmosphere in lieu of caterwauling electricity, filling the spaces with dark, droning continuos that hang in the air like post-riot tear gas. His cavernous crooning floats just above the oddly addictive slow riffs. This bloody valentine is a beastly beauty that mitigates icy experimentalism with glowing compositions including additions of violin and trumpet that go down just like honey. Meant to be played very, very loud. |

ARTIST: BOOHOOS
TITLE: Here Comes the Hoo (1986-1987)
LABEL: SPIT FIRE |
|
| DESCRIPTION: Around the middle of the controversial 1980s, in the so-called Belpaese of Italy there were still many who doubted that rock music could really come from the guitar strings of our own musicians. Despite strong evidence, especially in the punk / new wave scenes, the first thing that anyone looked at was your genetic and cultural predisposition to live genuinely and intensely, and not your ability, or lack of ability, to play that dirty, aggressive and grating R&R that had its roots in the Detroit of MC5 and the Stooges, with a nod to the Big Apple of the New York Dolls, the Heartbreakers and the Dead Boys, while also dipping into British glam rock. When the Boohoos made their first demo tape, “Bloody Mary”, in the summer of 1986, many sceptics raised whiteflags of surrender. Someone wrote, “The cursed rock is at home even in Pesaro.”
And today, twenty years later, Spit/Fire (a sub-label of Spittle), has finally compiled all this in an unbelievable CD, which includes their first demo, first mini-LP and first LP. |
