“Al-Zulfiquar Shaheed” is 75 minutes of mellow eastern-style hypnotism, originally released in 1994 as a four song CD by obscure label T.4 (obscure because it was the label’s only release, and discogs.com offers no further information). Now reissued with a bonus track “Iraqi Opal” from the various artists compilation “Ophir”, released in the same year by French label Déssacord Majeur, the album shows Bryn Jones’s ability to create lengthy and detailed compositions filled with Arabic percussion, droning keyboards, vocal samples and ethereal atmospheres. A strongly rhythmic and melodic album.
