Zos Kia was formed by John Gosling (currently of Mekon), John Balance (Coil) and Min – with guest Peter ‘Sleazy’ Christopherson (Throbbing Gristle, Coil). Their one and only long-play album, Transparent, was released August 23rd, 1983 on cassette by the now-defunct Austrian label Nekrophile. The tracks were the first released recordings of both Coil and Zos Kia. It was reissued years later by Coil on their Threshold House / Eskaton label in an edited edition. In 2017 the complete album was reissued on CD and double LP by UK label Cold Spring Records. But besides Transparent, Zos Kia released two EP vinyls and recorded several tracks for compilation. Additionally, about an hour’s worth of unreleased material was found in John Gosling archives.
Now the final and complete anthology of Zos Kia recordings is released under as 23 on double CD in Luxor Digibook via Infinite Fog Productions. 23 tracks, covering more than two hours of exciting material in various styles was сarefully extracted and prepared for publishing by John Gosling himself, The artwork was done by Cold Graves. The collection includes well-known tracks in different forms, unknown, rare and unreleased compositions, and many more for the deep diving into the esoteric underground music from the 1980s.
23 is the long-awaited release for those who care deeply for old-school industrial music, collectors, rare-searchers and is an especially great gift for all Coil lovers.
